Prayers, Praises, and Updates
11/12/24
As we approach the holiday season, the Community Care Center would like to inform the public of important updates to our operating hours and donation policies. Thanks to the generous donations we have received from across the country, our “store” has been open to provide essential goods to all who have been affected by this terrible storm. We are now beginning to phase out operations as we move into the holiday season.
Holiday Hours:
- Week of Thanksgiving: The Community Care Center will be open Tuesday, November 26th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM only.
- Starting December 3rd: Our new hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Last Day for Donations: Tuesday, December 3rd will be the final day to drop off donations. Please note that we are no longer accepting clothes, blankets, coats, or shoes.
Final Day of Operation:
- December 14th will be the last day the Community Care Center will be open to the public.
As we close out this phase of operations, we encourage everyone to visit us before the holiday season to “shop” for any items they may need.
Thank you all for sharing the love of Christ in so many ways. We couldn’t do this without you!

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who have stepped up to help our community. We also appreciate all the donations, especially those that come from our list of needs available on our webpage. We are closely monitoring these needs daily so that we can best serve our community in the most effective ways.
Here’s our next big request: we are in need of some heavy lifters to assist us in our loading bay. If you can lift 50 pounds or more, we would greatly appreciate your help as we unload donations and serve customers by loading items into their cars. We also have a need for volunteer greeters and sorters. Please click the volunteer button and lend a hand in any way you can!
Additionally, we have a prayer wall in our community center, and we invite you to come and leave a prayer or pray over the requests listed there. We need prayer just as much as we need physical donations.
Thank you all for sharing the love of Christ in so many ways. We couldn’t do this without you!
10/23/24
If you haven’t been to our Community Care Center to see the incredible outpouring of generosity yet, please come and see what God has done! On weekdays, we serve the needs of
Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey county residents by providing food, household goods, clothing, and
equipment to keep our communities warm this winter. Our amazing Volunteers are here to help
sort donations, guide “shoppers” to the things they need, and especially to love and pray with
our guests.
We are here Monday- Friday, 9 am- 4 pm. We are closed on weekends. Please come and see
us!
